PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface protective film having a friction charge and release charge preventing effect and excellent in water resistance. SOLUTION: The surface protective film is constituted by providing a surface layer formed of a coating solution on one side of a polyester film and providing an adhesive layer on the other side thereof. The coating solution is composed of: (A) 55-90 wt.% of a resin component; (B) 7-40 wt.% of an antistatic agent comprising a polythiophene-based conductive polymer having a main repetition unit represented by the general formula (wherein R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl group or together form a 1-12C alkylene group which may be substituted optionally); and (C) 3-12 wt.% of an antifouling agent comprising a copolymer obtained by the long chain alkylation of polyvinyl alcohol or polyethyleneimine using chlorinated alkyloyl or alkyl isocyanate.
