摘要 A device and a method for supporting a dual-board in a distributed system are provided to realize 1:1 and N:M dualization of a processing board in the distributed system comprising line cards and processing boards by using a function mapping virtual and real slots, and reduce a switching time by reflecting a dual-state change of a new active processing board is informed in an event notification mode when switching occurs. A dual-state management processor(112) determines a dual-state of boards(102-104) and transfers a dual-state message. A mapping table management processor(110) makes a virtual slot-real slot mapping table(108) for connecting virtual slots and real slots by using the dual-state message. A packet processor forwards traffic entering the inside of the distributed system by referring to the mapping table. The mapping table stores virtual slot information for the virtual slot virtually mounting an active board and real slot information for the real slot really mounting the boards. The dual-state management processor monitors whether the dual-state of the boards is changed, and transfers a dual-state change to the mapping table management process when the dual-state change occurs.
