An apparatus and a method for fabricating a cable tray are provided to eliminate a welding process and a plating process, thereby improve productivity and reduce manufacturing costs, and effectively remove environmental pollution generated in the welding process and the plating process by manufacturing side frames and hangers forming the cable tray through a continuous process and fitting the side frames and hangers to each other. A method for fabricating a cable tray comprises: a side frame fabricating step(S100) including a process(S110) of preparing a side frame workpiece, a process(S120) of transferring the side frame workpiece, a process(S130) of pressing the side frame workpiece, a process(S140) of forming the side frame workpiece, and a process(S150) of cutting the side frame workpiece; a hanger fabricating step(S200) including a process(S210) of preparing a hanger workpiece, a process(S220) of transferring the hanger workpiece, a process(S230) of forming the hanger workpiece, a process(S240) of forming a notch part on the hanger workpiece, and a process(S250) of forming a bent member on the hanger workpiece; and a cable tray assembling step(S300) of assembling the hangers with the side frames by inserting bent members of hangers into slot parts and embossing parts of the side frames in a state that a pair of side frames fabricated in the side frame fabricating step are spaced apart from each other in a predetermined distance. The process of forming the side frame workpiece comprises a coating process(S400) of coating a surface of the side frame workpiece.
