The device i.e. output stage (500) has a compensation unit (520) for processing control signals. The compensation unit is designed in such a manner that it compensates a valve-specific non-linear metering behavior of an injection valve (40), during the control of the valve by a controller (550). The valve-specific metering behavior is determined for a minimum fuel pressure and a preset booster current, where the metering behavior is stored in a memory unit (510). The metering behavior is considered for injection times, which are lesser than marginal injection time. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an injection valve for fuel metering of an internal-combustion engine.
