A key input device for a personal portable terminal is provided to reduce a thickness thereof and slim the terminal by excluding a dome switch and a pressing protrusion. A key input device(100) for a personal portable terminal includes a circuit board(130), a key input pad(110), and a support film(120). The circuit board is adjacent to a button region for button input and has first and second conductive patterns(132,134) electrically isolated from each other. The key input pad has a cover layer(112) and a connection pattern corresponding to the button region at a lower part of the cover layer. The support film is interposed between the key input pad and the circuit board to support a circumference of the connection pattern and normally prevents contact between the first and second conductive patterns and the connection pattern.
