<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of reducing the time required for reading of an original in the image reader which performs ground color correction of read image information. <P>SOLUTION: After reading pixel values for one line for calculating a ground color correction value, the remaining area more on the side of the other edge Gk of the original G from the area is read and the ground color correction is applied to the read pixel values. Thus, what is necessary is just to move an image reading unit 3a only in the X direction. In other words, it is not necessary to move the image reading unit 3a in the opposite direction of the X direction and to read again from the tip Gs of the original G after calculating the ground color correction value and the time required for reading is shortened. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
