PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve efficient remote operation processing by lessening communication burden. SOLUTION: A client/server system is configured of a server having a function for encoding image data and transferring the encoded data to a client, and the client having a function for receiving the encoded data and displaying decoded two-dimensional image information. The client/server system comprises a means for specifying the image region of a part of displayed two-dimensional image information in units of rectangle, a means for identifying partially encoded data corresponding to a specified image region, a means for identifying an image region corresponding to partial image data specified by the client using the partially encoded data, and a means for commanding operation of the processor of the server based on an identified image region.
