<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce faulty fixing and irregular gloss of a developer caused by the ruggedness of the surface of material to be transferred. <P>SOLUTION: A transfer current is set stepwise so that it may be high in the initial stage of PV (Print Volume) and low in the final stage of PV. When printing is started (step S210), the PV is detected (step S211). When a detected result is equal to or under 1,000PV (step S212), the transfer current is set to 16μA (step S213). When it is above 1,000PV and equal to or under 3,000PV (step S214), the transfer current is set to 14μA (step S215).
