A contents updating method and system are provided to allow a contents providing server to schedule a time for transmitting updating of contents to each subscriber and transmit the updated contents information to mobile terminals of the subscribers to thus effectively use a mobile communication network. An information transmitting unit(202) transmits update time information to a mobile terminal. A signal receiving unit(204) receives an update request signal from the mobile terminal at a certain time according to the transmitted update time information. The information transmitting unit transmits searched contents information to the mobile terminal in response to the inputted update request signal to thus allow updating of contents in the mobile terminal. A scheduling unit(201) schedules update time information of each subscriber. The information transmitting unit transmits the update time information to mobile terminals of the subscribers based on the scheduling.
