SEMI-TRANSMISSIVE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semi-transmissive liquid crystal display device that can achieve transmissive display of a wide viewing angle, and excellent visibility even in the very bright environment such as outdoors.

SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display panel comprises: a first substrate; a second substrate; and liquid crystal sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate. The liquid crystal display panel has a plurality of sub-pixels having a transmission part and a reflection part. The transmission part of each sub-pixel of the plurality of the sub-pixels has: a first common electrode formed on the first substrate; and a transmission pixel electrode formed on the first common electrode via an interlayer insulation film. The transmission pixel electrode has a plurality of comb teeth-shaped electrodes or slits. The reflection part of each sub-pixel of the plurality of the sub-pixels has: a reflection electrode formed on the first common electrode; a planar reflection pixel electrode formed on the first common electrode via the interlayer insulation film; a second common electrode formed on the second substrate; and a retardation film formed between the second common electrode and the second substrate.
