<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical member capable of being reduced to a thin film and excellent also in display properties and durability performance, and a liquid crystal display equipped with the optical member, light in weight and excellent also in display properties and durability performance. <P>SOLUTION: The optical member (101) comprises a glass substrate (11) or a thin film transistor layer or a color filter layer and a polarizer (12) formed on the glass substrate or the thin film transistor layer or the color filter layer, wherein the polarizer (12) contains a complex comprising a molecular tube and a conjugate polymer included in the molecular tube and having absorption in a visible light region, and the complex is formed in an aligned state in a substantially one direction on the glass substrate or the thin film transistor layer or the color filter layer.
