<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a black matrix for a color filter, in which wrinkles can be suppressed from occurring on the surface of a black matrix when the black matrix is formed by using a negative black photoresist and an ultra-high pressure mercury lamp. <P>SOLUTION: A near UV ray absorbing filter 8 absorbing near UV rays at a wavelength of 335 nm or less is disposed on the ultrahigh pressure mercury lamp 1, and a black photoresist coating film 11 disposed on a glass substrate 12 is exposed to irradiation light from an ultrahigh pressure mercury lamp through a photomask.
