A depositing apparatus and a depositing method for controlling depositing of various denominations of bills are provided to handle various kinds of bills in several countries only through correction of a bill guide by arranging sensors in consideration of various kinds of bills such as euro, won, and yuan. A depositing apparatus(100) for controlling depositing of various denominations of bills is composed of a depositing unit(110) for depositing various denominations of bills; a pickup unit(120) picking up the bills received from the depositing unit, one by one; a transfer unit(130) transferring the bill picked by the pickup unit; a separation control sensor unit(140) installed at the transfer unit to detect the passing state of the bills; a skew sensor unit(150) installed at the transfer unit formed between the depositing unit and the separation control sensor unit to measure skew of the bill; and a control unit(160) operating the pickup unit if the separation control sensor unit detects that the bills pass, and stopping and reversely operating the transfer unit if skew of the bill is detected by the skew sensor unit.
