An electron emission device and an electron emission display using the same are provided to enhance luminous uniformity between sub-pixels by forming openings of a gate electrode of an optimized number at each of the sub-pixels. A plurality of cathode electrodes(6) are formed on a first substrate(2). A plurality of electron emission units(12) are electrically connected to the cathode electrodes. An insulating layer(8) is formed between a plurality of gate electrodes(10). The gate electrodes are positioned on upper parts of the cathode electrodes. The cathode electrodes and the gate electrodes are coupled with each other in order to form a plurality of sub-pixels. The gate electrodes includes a plurality of openings(81) which are formed at each of sub-pixels. The number of openings formed at each of sub-pixels is 20 to 30.
