PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially easily and inexpensively producing a fluorine-substituted 2-naphthol derivative useful as an intermediate for production of liquid crystal materials or the like. SOLUTION: The method for production of a fluorine-substituted 2-naphthol derivative includes converting a fluorine-substituted phenylacetic acid derivative into an acid halide using a halogenating agent, reacting the halide with a silyl acetylene derivative in the presence of Lewis acid, and then reacting with an acid.
