An information storage medium and a method of recording and/or reproducing data on/from the same are provided to record data reliably, and to reproduce the recorded data rapidly by detecting information indicating whether the pit recorded in the information storage medium is a projection pit or a lead in pit from a BCA(burst cutting area) through a reproducing unit. An information storage medium comprises a clamping area, a BCA(burst cutting area), and a lead in area. The BCA includes the information indicating whether the pit recorded in the information storing medium is a projection pit or a lead in pit(13), where the information is tracking polar information. A reproducing unit reproduces the information. A control unit controls the reproducing unit to reproduce the data recorded in the information storage medium.
