<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline storage battery with alkaline electrolyte solution prevented from leaking outside along the surface of an electrode terminal, and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The alkaline storage battery 100 includes an anode terminal 140 inserted into a through-hole 111h arranged from inside over to outside of a battery case 110 and fixed through a packing 145 to a hole-periphery part 111j. At least a sealing part 140c of the anode terminal 140 is formed by press-molding a thermal diffusion Ni-plated steel plate 14 consisting of a steel plate main body 143 mainly composed of Fe, an Fe-Ni diffusion layer 142, and an Ni layer 141.
