Coded block pattern encoding/decoding with spatial prediction

A video encoding and decoding method are disclosed for encoding and decoding block parameters wherein the correlation between chrominance and luminance blocks in each macroblock is exploited.
Coded block parameters were used to code image blocks of image samples into structures called macroblocks. Coded block pattern for chrominance and luminance are combined into a single parameter for the macroblock and jointly coded with a single variable length code. Spatial coherence of coded block patterns can be further exploited by computing spatially predicted coded block pattern parameters.
