PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high fire retardancy of an electrolyte and excellent high rate discharge characteristics. SOLUTION: In the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery equipped with a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte, the nonaqueous electrolyte contains a fluorinated chain carbonate compound in which a methylene group is adjoined to a carbonate group, and having -CHF<SB>2</SB>at a molecule chain end; a cyclic carbonate compound having C-Cπ-bonding; and a cyclic compound having S=O bonding.
