A method for silencing of exhaust gases of combustion engine is in sequential supply of exhaust gases to separate noise-suppressing cavities, those are sealed after exhaust gases go there, exhaust gases are kept in cavities during time required for filling with new gas portions of following cavities, and that those are discharged to atmosphere. A device for implementation of the method comprises inlet and outlet branch pipes connected to noise-suppressing cavities made as isolated one from another, for example as one or several pairs of cylinders with pistons connected to each other kinematically, for example by means of crankshaft, and displaced one from another in each pair by half-tact. The device can be made as isolated one from another noise-suppressing cavities arranged as sectors of driving drum placed on fixed shaft, cavity of which partitioned at middle is connected to inlet and outlet branch pipes and periodically - to separate cavities of the drum.
