<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose composition, particularly a film, which can be suitably used as an optical film, is excellent in retardation development, and shows little variation of retardation with humidity. <P>SOLUTION: The cellulose composition comprises a cellulose compound that satisfies the following formulas (1) to (3): formula (1): 1.5≤A+B≤3, formula (2): 0<A≤3, and formula (3): 0≤B<3, wherein A represents the degree of substitution of a hydrogen atom composing a hydroxy group of cellulose by a group represented by Z-L-X-, Z representing a 6-30C aromatic group which may have a substituent, L representing a divalent group having 1 to 10 atoms, and X representing -C(=O)- or -C(R<SP>1</SP>)<SB>2</SB>- (wherein R<SP>1</SP>represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent); and B represents the degree of substitution of a hydrogen atom composing a hydroxy group of cellulose by a 2-6C alkanoyl group. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
