PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable data storage system achieving high-speed processing, in which the cost of a device is low. SOLUTION: A disk array device 200 comprises: two hard disks HDD1 and HDD2; a distributed storage processing part 251 for dividing data and distributing and storing the respective parts of the data in the different hard disks HDD1 and HDD2; and a backup processing part 253 for copying the data other than the data stored in the hard disk HDD1 or HDD2 by the distributed storage processing part 251 from the other hard disk HDD2 or HDD1 to the hard disk HDD1 or HDD2 when the respective hard disks HDD1 and HDD2 are not operated.
