The cavity has a gain medium (12) such as titanium:sapphire (Ti:Sa) crystal, arranged in contact or near a cavity base convex mirror (11) of the medium, where the radius of curvature of the convex mirror is a function of a desired stability range compatible with a thermal focus of the crystal. The crystal is situated in a Rayleigh zone in which a laser beam is collimated, where the cavity is of V or Z shaped.
