The automatic method involves masking dark reference areas in the picture implemented with a combination of four threshold values. Ratio vegetation index (rvi) = rho near infra red / rho red, where with red, a red spectral channel 650 nanometer and with near infra red a close infrared spectral channel 850 nanometer are characterized and rho red and rho near infra red are computed by retaining a determined start visual range (VIS = 23 kilometers).
