<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both printing productivity and the lifetime of each medium and each component of an image forming apparatus, even in case there is a difference between the reading speed of an optical reading device corresponding to each reading mode and the writing speed of an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: When a user sets a bundle of documents on an ADF, selects copy mode conditions, and depresses a copy start button, a copying operation corresponding to each setting is started, and the selected copy mode conditions are stored in a memory. From the copy conditions stored in the memory, time taken to read one document is obtained. In addition, from the copying conditions stored in the memory, time taken to print on one sheet of paper is obtained. The obtained time taken to read the document and the obtained time taken to print on one sheet is compared. If the time taken to read one document is longer than that taken to print on one sheet, a determination is made that the image forming apparatus needs to be temporarily stopped. If both the times are equal or the time taken to print on one sheet is longer, then the operation of the image forming apparatus is determined to be continued. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
