The pentaprism of the SLR camera is replaced by a lightweight, hollow structure in the shape of a prism, and with the inside faces silvered. The exposure settings are automatically set by an exposure element (226) mounted on an arm pivoted in the hollow structure. When the shutter release is operated the exposure element is swung into the optic path to directly monitor the light from the objective, before the viewing mirror is swung aside. Alternately the pivoted arm holds a mirror to reflect light to an exposure element on the side of the structure. The exposure element is thus mounted in such a position that it is unaffected by stray light entering the eyepiece, producing false exposure readings. The hollow structure is light and simple to construct and suited for mass production techniques. |
