[Also in Divisions F2 and H3] A transistor T 1 switches current to an inductive load MV such as a clutch winding and a charged capacitor C is connected by a further transistor in series with the supply source to speed the build-up of current. The capacitor of Fig. 1 charges via D 1 and R 1 in the polarity indicated. When T 1 becomes conductive, T 2 also conducts so that the supply and the capacitor voltage act in series-aiding relation. When the capacitor has discharged, diode D 1 conducts to provide the maintaining current. In Fig. 2, the charged capacitor C acts in series aiding relation to the supply when T 1 and T 2 conduct. When conduction is terminated, the energy in the load MV is used to recharge the capacitor through D 1 and D 2 .
