A gas spring is provided to inject gas through a gas charge valve installed on an outer peripheral surface of a cylinder or an end cap in a state that the gas spring is mounted to equipment. A gas spring(10) includes a cylinder(12), a rod(14), and a gas charge valve unit(30). The cylinder has an opening(15) at one end, and is connected to an end cap(16) at the other end so as to partition a gas chamber(11) with a piston(13). The piston is slidably installed in the cylinder, and compresses gas in the gas chamber when moving from an expanding position to a contracting position. The rod is connected with the piston, and drawn out through the opening. The gas charge valve unit is installed in a valve cavity(20) formed on an outer peripheral surface of the cylinder or the end cap to be communicated with the gas chamber.
