PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microinjection apparatus and a contact detection method, which are each capable of efficiently detecting contact of a needle and a base surface. SOLUTION: This microinjection apparatus comprises descending a needle 122 in a fixed direction by every fixed distance while keeping an angle of the needle 122 and a base surface at a fixed angle and observing change of movement amount of the point of the needle 122 horizontally moving relative to the base surface together with the descending needle. When the movement amount is over a prescribed threshold value, needle 122 is determined to contact the base surface and find the accurate contact position of the needle 122 and the base surface based on increased difference.
