<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate variation in deterioration rate (deterioration speed) due to display of an input gray scale value in real time through a measured value of a dummy pixel. <P>SOLUTION: The dummy pixel and a detection sensor which detects its light emission luminance are arranged outside an effective display region. In this case, the dummy pixel is continuously brought into light emission control based fundamentally upon mean gray scale values calculated by basic light emission colors. At a measurement timing point of deterioration information, on the other hand, the dummy pixel is brought under light emission control based upon previously set gray scale values. At this time, transition of the light emission luminance measured by the detection sensor in each measurement timing of the deterioration information is found to find deterioration information of light emission characteristics between measurement timings. Then a measured deterioration rate corresponding to an average gray scale value found in a measurement timing period is calculated based upon the average gray scale value and deterioration information corresponding thereto. At the same time, measured deterioration rates for all gray scale values other than the average gray scale value are calculated by referring to a basic table containing basic correspondence relation between gray scale values and deterioration rates. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
