PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power cable partial discharge detection method and a power cable partial discharge detector using the same superior in detection performance of partial discharge and capable of efficiently detecting remote partial discharge without modifying a connection part. SOLUTION: The power cable partial discharge detection method measuring a signal between electrodes by attaching the electrodes to both sides of an insulating tube in the connection part of the power cable and detecting the partial discharge in the power cable and/or the connection part of the power cable extracts a signal having a pseudo frequency or a frequency band with low-frequency from a measurement signal and detects the partial discharge by acquiring the characteristic quantity thereof.
