PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for measurement such as periodontal measurement, whose small-sized and high-precision probe part safely and automatically achieves conventional pocket depth measurement under traditional fixed pressures, and also implements other various measurements in pockets and gingiva (out of pockets in periodontium). SOLUTION: This apparatus has a gel-like elastomer whose external tip surface is coated with a reflective means. The tip is supplied with light through fibers, and its reflective light is detected by a photo-diode to measure the displacement.
