PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image carrier which reduces thickness reduction of a lubricant film formed in a surface thereof due to charge hazards, and which does not deteriorate cleanability even when a small-particle-diameter spherical toner capable of achieving higher image quality is used. SOLUTION: In the image bearing member 1 having the lubricant film 1a formed on a surface of a photosensitive layer 1c carrying a latent image, the lubricant film 1a comprises a mixture of (A) a lubricative powder material comprising at least one lubricative substance selected from polytetrafluoroethylene, molybdenum disulfide, a fatty acid amide and a metal salt of a fatty acid and (B) thermoplastic resin particles. In the image bearing member 1, a surface protective layer 1b is preferably disposed between the photosensitive layer 1c and the lubricant film 1a.
