PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system allowing a driver to visually identify a direction guide intuitively, regardless of the length of the character string of a direction name or the like, when direction signs are displayed. SOLUTION: Bitmaps (character part images) of direction guidance signs or the like are prepared in a character part image table. When an intersection and roads entering the intersection are designated, a direction sign selection means 23 extracts the direction sign image of a current intersection sign from a direction sign image table. A character part selection means 24 extracts each character part image of the current intersection sign from the character part image table. An intersection sign composition means 26, in accordance with part arrangement information, arranges each character part image on the direction sign image and composites an intersection sign image as a bitmap image.
