PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a 1-(alkoxysilyl)ethyl-1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane represented by general formula (2) (R' and R" are each a methyl group or an ethyl group and may be the same or different; a is 0, 1 or 2) in a high yield and highly selectively. SOLUTION: The method for producing a 1-(alkoxysilyl)ethyl-1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane represented by general formula (2) comprises reacting 1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane with a vinyl group-containing alkoxysilane compound represented by general formula (1) (R' and R" are each a methyl group or an ethyl group; a is 0, 1 or 2) in the presence of a Rh-containing compound. The chemical substance obtained by the method is useful as a surface treating agent for inorganic powder, a modifier for a silicone oil or the like, a raw material for a silicone sealant, a raw material for a silane coupling agent, etc., and an intermediate for various syntheses.
