PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator with increased storing space at a user friendly height position by modifying an arrangement layout of a compressor, an evaporator, a condenser, and a defrosting evaporator, which are refrigerating cycle components. SOLUTION: A first recessed part 62 is provided in a ceiling part rear of an uppermost refrigeration chamber 51 to arrange the compressor 63, a second recessed part 82 is provided in a lower part rear of a lowermost freezing chamber 54 to arrange and compose the defrosting evaporator comprised of an evaporating dish 84 and a condenser pipe arrangement 87, a cooling chamber 70 housing the evaporator 76 is arranged in a freezing chamber interior rear, and the first recessed part 62, the cooling chamber 70, and the second recessed part 82 are laid out on a substantially straight line in a vertical direction in a rear of a heat insulating box 50. By this, related apparatuses of a refrigerating cycle are grouped in areas that are not user friendly, the internal space that can be actually utilized is increased, and the refrigerator with largely improved user friendliness can be realized.
