PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform focus detection without depending on an object due to an object pattern or the like in a digital still camera which uses a color photographic sensor to perform phase difference type focus detection. SOLUTION: One pixel of an image sensor has two light reception parts for one microlens and a color filter, and one picture element consisting of a plurality of pixels includes at least one pixel having different disposition of light reception parts, whereby a camera performs focus detection by luminous fluxes different by pupil division directions of a photographic lens.
