PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid discharge apparatus which keeps a head efficiently filled with a liquid and prevents air bubbles from staying behind, and a liquid filling method. SOLUTION: An print head 50 comprises: a flow path structure provided with a main flow path 60 and a branch flow path 55; and an elastic membrane 61 in the vicinity of a connection between the main flow path 60 and the branch flow path 55. The main flow path 60 is filled with ink in a state of an inlet 55A of the branch flow path 55 being closed by pressurizing and deforming the elastic membrane 61 from the opposite side of the main flow path 60 of the elastic membrane 61. When ink filling of the main flow path 60 is finished, the elastic membrane 61 is made in a state of non-deformation, and the inlet 55A of the branch flow path 55 is opened, so as to fill the branch flow path 55 and a pressure chamber 52 with ink. The elastic membrane 61 is arranged in such a way that an end 142 of the elastic membrane 61 on the branch flow path side is positioned on the branch flow path side away from the connection 144 between the main flow path 60 and the branch flow path 55.
