PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element in which a joining part of an element substrate and a sealing member is selectively heated to join them and in which deterioration of the organic electroluminescent laminate due to heat in joining can be suppressed as much as possible. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element has an element substrate 10 mounting an organic electroluminescent laminate 4 and a sealing member 20 sealing the organic electroluminescent laminate 4, and the element substrate 10 and the sealing member 20 are joined at a joining part 30 surrounding surroundings of the organic electroluminescent laminate 4. A thermal conduction layer 5 which overlaps with the joining part 30 when viewed from thickness direction and is extended toward the outside of the joining part 30 is formed at least on one of the element substrate 10 and the sealing member 20, and the joining part 30 is selectively heated and joined with the thermal conduction layer 5 being in contact with a heat radiator 40.
