PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely read a bar code even if the surface of an object where a bar code is displayed is not flat. SOLUTION: The bar code reader is provided with a reading window 16 where a reading frame on which a bar code to be read is positioned is formed. A contact face 16a which is brought into contact with the surface of an object 6 with a flat face in a focal point position with respect to CCD 22 is protrusively formed at an area which the reading frame of the reading window 16 occupies. When the reading window 16 is brought into contact with the surface where the bar code of the object 6 is displayed, the area where the reading frame of the reading window 16 is closely contacted to the bar code display face of the object 6 and the bar code can precisely be read even if the surface of the object 6 is not flat. |
