PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent material detection device capable of performing highly accurate detection to various biochemical reaction cartridges in each proper condition. SOLUTION: A reflection plate 33 on the surface of a light-transmissive DNA chip 12 is irradiated with excitation light from the back side, and reflected light by the reflection plate 33 is received by a photomultiplier 37, and the light intensity is measured. A light intensity measured value is compared with a light intensity reference value stored beforehand. The output intensity of a laser light generator 34 is adjusted corresponding to the comparison result. Then, excitation light is irradiated toward a DNA probe 32 of the DNA chip 12, and fluorescence from the excited fluorescent material is received by the photomultiplier 37.
