PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for an electric power steering device which relaxes an impact to be applied to a stopper, by detecting approach to a rack end with a rack end determining section without using a mechanism, controlling a current command value so as to gradually reduce when approaching the rack end or reaching a steering limit, and generating electromagnetic brake in the timing when the limited current command value becomes zero. SOLUTION: The controller for an electric power steering device is provided with: a rack end determining section for determining approach to the rack end; or a steering limit determining section for determining the steering limit, limits the current command value when approaching to the rack end or reaching the steering limit, and applies the electromagnetic brake to a motor in the timing when the limited current command value becomes zero.
