<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which allows for rapid pressure reduction of a leak detection passage in performing the leak detection of a shut-off valve on a fuel gas supply at a fuel cell system. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell system offers a normal mode and a gas leak detection mode. The system comprises a fuel cell; a fuel gas supply for supplying a fuel gas to the fuel cell; a shut-off valve which is attached in a passage for leading a fuel gas supplied from the fuel gas supply to the fuel cell and is able to shut off the fuel gas being supplied; and a variable pressure regulating valve which is attached in a passage between the shut-off valve and fuel cell, and performs pressure regulation so that a pressure of the fuel gas downstream in a supply direction of the fuel gas may become an adjustable pressure-regulating value. In the normal mode, the fuel cell system sets the pressure-regulating value of the variable pressure regulating valve to a normal power generation regulating value for performing the normal power generation. In the gas leak detection mode, the fuel cell system closes the shut-off valve, and sets the pressure-regulating value of the variable pressure regulating valve to the value higher than the normal power generation regulating value which is set up at the end of the normal mode for detection of fuel gas leak from the shut-off valve. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
