PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat adhesive polyester resin which can be made into a binder fiber, suitable for practical usage at a high temperature under high humidity, and gives only a little effect to the environment since prepared by without using a heavy metal based catalyst such as antimony, and also to provide a composite binder fiber, a nonwoven fabric and a solid cotton prepared from the above polyester resin. SOLUTION: The polyester resin comprises terephthalic acid as a major acid component, ethylene glycol and 1,4-butane diol in the weight ratio of 80/20-30/70 as a major diol component and contains 100-400 ppm of an aluminum compound and a magnesium compound.
