<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which backlight is made efficient by reducing power consumption of the backlight by performing luminance control symmetrical about center-line in the display longitudinal direction of the backlight. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal TV 1 is provided with a display 8 displaying an image and the backlight 2 composed of two U-tubes which emit light from the rear surface side of the display 8. The backlight 2 is composed of a backlight 2A and a backlight 2B whose tube lengths are different from each other. Further, the backlight 2A and the backlight 2B are respectively arranged so as to be up-and-down-symmetrical in the longitudinal direction about center-line in the display 8 longitudinal direction. The liquid crystal TV 1 emits light from the rear surface side of the display 8 by the backlight 2 and, thereby, the display 8 can display a moving image and a still image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
