A system and a method for authenticating a visitor by using an authentication number is provided to enable a house owner to identify the visitor by enable a service center to transmit the same authentication number as the house owner's to the terminal of the visitor. If a request of visitor authentication is input, a mobile communication terminal(100) requests the visitor authentication in a corresponding service center(120), and receives an authentication number from the service center to display the authentication number. If the visitor authentication is requested from the mobile communication terminal, the service center generates the authentication number to transmit the same to the terminal. If the authentication number is received, a mobile communication terminal of the visitor displays the authentication number.
