PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous pressure dehydrator which employs a sheet metal filter medium varying fine pores to improve dehydrating capability and gives dehydrated cakes of a consistent water content. SOLUTION: In the pressure dehydrator having a freely rotatable impeller 12 in a circular filtration chamber 4, a sheet metal filter medium 30 is formed with two or more divided thin-plate metal filter materials 29 divided into parts in the radial direction, and fine pores 17 of the sheet metal filter medium 30 are thus arranged in the form of concentric circles so that the pore diameter decreases gradually from the central toward the outer peripheral part. The throughput of the dehydrator is never restricted in the concentration section owing to adaptability of appropriate pore diameters according to proceeding of filtration. The arrangement can also prevent excessive passing through, leading to decrease of the water content and increase of the SS recovery. Since the surface of the sheet metal filter medium is smooth and free of bending, no detachment defect occurs. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
