PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the drive of a tray for placing a disk by attaining detection of a disk loading/unloading position where the disk being a recording medium can be exchanged and the detection of a recording/reproducing apparatus inside an information recording/reproducing apparatus with an existing component member. SOLUTION: A connection part 19, in which a plane irradiated with laser beams emitted from a pickup unit 15 is inclined, is formed at the rear of the tray 12, so that the laser beams are emitted from the pickup unit 15 when the tray 12 is moved. When the tray 12 is moved between the disk loading/unloading position and the recording/reproducing position, it is detected that the inclined plane 27 formed at the connection part 19 is irradiated with the laser beams emitted from the pickup unit 15 to shield the laser beams, thereby driving a motor 20 for the preset time based on the detected position.
