PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grasp the newest states of an apparatus, saving on power consumption satisfactorily. SOLUTION: A main CPU 10 performs counting on the basis of the interval of information acquisition of a server, and just before information acquisition from the server, it supplies power to each corresponding part (including CPUs and sensors) and makes the part return temporarily from a low power consumption mode. The main CPU 10 sends out requests for apparatus states to CPUs 11-1, 11-2, and acquires apparatus states (an open or closed state of a cover, cassette size, media type, a remaining sheet quantity, etc.) sent back from the CPUs 11-1, 11-2 in response to the request for apparatus states. If an information acquisition request from the server arises, the acquired apparatus states are returned to the server.
