A method for differentially servicing presence in a mobile instant messenger service and a device and system thereof are provided to enable a provider who provides a mobile instant messenger to differentially offer presence which is one of main functions of the messenger, so that the user of a mobile terminal that uses the instant messenger can differently express self presence according to registered buddies. A mobile terminal accesses a communication network, and drives a mobile instant messenger(S300,S310). The mobile terminal edits or reads self presence(S320). The mobile terminal selects a buddy to whom the self present will be applied, from a buddy list(S330). The buddy list registered in the terminal is requested(S340). The self presence of the terminal set in the buddy list is displayed on a screen together with the buddy list(S350).
